Soulful 7 with Adi Amar

Soulful 7 with Adi Amar

“The glory of God is a human being fully alive.”

St. Irenaeus

“A balm for your soul” is the best way to describe this beautiful and sacred Soulful 7 Conversation with Adi Amar. Adi walked into my life twenty years ago, and today I count her as a dear friend, teacher and mentor. She radiates a special quality of light and peace that I know must make God smile! As a teacher and healer, her mission is to help others build physical and spiritual strength so they can enjoy the fullest life possible. Her yoga credentials are impressive, studying under Baba Hari Dass, Sadhguru, Tim Miller, Bhavani Maki, Nicki Doane, Eddie Modestini, Mary Obendorfer and Eddy Marks. She teaches vinyasa classes at Teton Yoga Shala in Jackson Hole to a huge fan base, and is the “star” on the online yoga website, Yoga Today!

Over two decades ago, I braved my first yoga class in Jackson Hole, Wyoming with Adi, and discovered a spiritual practice that invites stillness, inner awareness, and peace into my daily life. For me, the movement and the meditation of yoga is not a conflict, but an enhancement to my Christian faith. I believe God looks for all sorts of creative ways to strike up “holy” conversations whether in a candlelit chapel, on a walk through a grove of pine trees, kneeling in nighttime prayers, or moving through a vinyasa on my bright pink yoga mat! Flowing through sun salutations settles the “spinning top” in me, so I can relish a little inner peace. Lots of heart-felt prayers have been whispered in a downward dog.

During these surreal, and disordering Corona days, yoga has been a welcome respite. I have listened to this particular Soulful 7 with Adi every week and participated in her daily meditations on instagram.  Adi’s voice and wisdom grounds me! I hope it will do the same for you!

Promise me you will listen start to finish. Put on a pair of earphones and listen while you take a walk. You will return home feeling light as a feather—- inspired and full of peace. Here are just a few of our A-ha moments from the conversation!

“The spiritual journey is an adventure. Get out of your own way.”

“Life is not happening to us, but for us!”

“The goal is to expand oneself in our short stay here.”

“A true and authentic spiritual practice requires earnest sincerity and devotion over a long period of time.”

“Trust that the larger plan for the universe is moving toward ultimate goodness, so if challenges or obstacle show up in your life, they are meant to serve a purpose.”

“Every morning ask yourself the question, ‘How do I want to be in the world today?'”

“The spiritual life is simple. It’s being spiritual in the material world that is complicated.”

“The goal is to be a person that is consistently radiant.”

“The spiritual life cannot be results-driven.”

“Don’t be afraid of friction because it creates the heat necessary for change.”

“Measure your personal evolution by how you are with the people closest to you.”

“If you don’t do anything else, breathe and practice gratitude.”

And my favorite: Make yourself available to grace!!!

I hope you will enjoy a sample of one of Adi’s classes below! Grace and peace to you this week!

So much wisdom! Listening to this one again and again and again. Thank you, Farrell for facilitating such an interesting and insightful discussion. Practicing with Adi in JH was like attending a masterclass. She strips away the mental clutter and reminds me just how and why yoga is such a necessity.
Vulnerability is power & allows for so much growth.
Farrell, I so appreciate you being vulnerable in your seeking of all things Divine & loving. Through this, you encourage us all to become our most beautiful selves!
