The Month of Mae

mae

Take a look at this picture. This is a wise beyond her years six year old who has more courage, resilience, and “living hope” in her small frame than most of us could muster in an entire lifetime.

Meet Mae!

Not once, but twice she has taken on cancer, two grueling years of battling for what most of us take for granted—the chance to live, laugh, and love. Mae is a force of hope (and you should see her momma, too!)

I rarely ask for help. But all of you who know me, know how fierce and passionate I am when it comes to helping children with cancer and their families, and supporting the brave doctors and hospitals committed to saving their lives. Not a day goes by that I am not grateful to be a mother of a cancer survivor!

This past weekend was the Music City Marathon in Nashville, and I was supposed to run in honor of Mae and St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. A stress fracture in my foot kept me from participating. But it will not stop me from championing Mae! I have arranged with Amazon.com that all proceeds from EVERY single Alma Gloria and the Olive Tree book sold during the month of May will go to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in honor of Mae. Or you can go directly to St. Jude’s website and make a donation. St. Jude’s is this cutting-edge, amazingly generous children’s hospital in Memphis that treats all their kids with cancer for free!!!

Here’s how you can help! Go to Amazon.com and purchase Alma Gloria and the Olive Tree for a great Mother’s Day gift, end of the school year teacher gift, give one to a friend whose having a hard time, or could just use a good dose of HOPE!  Or, even better, you can make a direct donation to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital at www.stjude.orgI promise it will be the easiest act of kindness you will do all month!

Your gift of buying Alma Gloria and the Olive Tree or donation to St. Jude’s will mean so much to Mae’s family and her team of doctors.

Here is a video with Mae and Jennifer Aniston for St. Jude’s: Super cool!
