Stick to love

“I have decided to stick to love…Hate is too great a burden.”

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Holy and Loving God,

I find myself somewhere between the fragility and the preciousness of life.

I struggle with the order of things here on earth; how evil and grace grow in the same soil.

And yet, You planted love at my center.

Underneath all of me is You.

How creative, daring—Trusting of You

To allow me, in my own unique way, to reveal You in the world.

To be goodness and mercy, compassion and hope.

At my very best, to be love.

It is love that gives my life shape, depth, dignity and purpose.

I forget.

How many times I could have loved better, forgiven more swiftly, spoken up, healed the samaritan.

But You choose to focus on the moment—Now.

You need me to shine brighter, love bigger,

Make an impact.

There is no time or value in cynicism, inertia, or the status quo

I have to put more muscle behind the hope.

You are asking me to be better than even I think I can be.

The Good News: It is in my marrow to inspire, to mend, to lift up, to speak out, to resurrect

To participate in the whole blessed experience.

The love is in me.

Always has been. Always will be.

Underneath all of me and EVERY created being

Is You.

“Stick to love.”

Keep telling me God.

An inspired Amen.
