Why Me, Why Here?
WHY ME, WHY HERE?
To fall in love.
To stay in love—
With myself, with my clan
With the pileated Woodpecker with the crimson-plumed headdress
With God.
To manifest in my own unique way a molecule of Jesus in this time and space.
To reveal that I am more than dust,
I am a soul that was before and will always be.
To accomplish something worthy with the soft muscle of my heart.
To slip a word of hope in every conversation.
To try and see God in all my Beloved’s masterful manifestations.
To laugh, to relish the beauty, to play.
To be a tuning fork, maybe even help work a miracle or two.
To duel with fear, and walk away champion.
To remember the last always goes first, the servant before the crown
And humbly, take my place in line.
To become a gourmand of grace
Tie my apron about me, use every pot and pan in my cupboard, set the table beautiful for a multitude
And spend my life nourishing hearts.
To show God that I can evolve
Supernaturally.
To figure out a way to properly say thank you for the whole of it.
To empty myself.
Transformed and incandescent,
Pure peace.
So when my feathers begin to twitch,
Light as a feather—-
I will rise for the next adventure.
Amen.
