Let this be the Christmas—

We open our arms and hearts to the possibility of heaven breaking through,

listen for the rustle of angle’s wings,

look for the star of wonder in the dark and unknown Night,

and allow Your hope to slip secret through the door of our beating hearts.

Over 2,000 years ago a birth changed everything—

It revealed the lengths You are willing to go to Love us,

to save us.

Every single one of us,

every single day,

needs Your hope.

Our whole lives depend on it.

We need angel’s circling in protection,

a shepherd’s sense of wonder and awe,

and a magi’s resilient faith.

Please break through our rough edges to reach the soft part of our souls.

Whisper again the Angel Gabriel’s prophetic words:

“Do not be afraid. For nothing is impossible for God.”

May we then have the courage to whisper back:

“Here I am God, my life belongs to You.”
